"Since we began using Submittal Exchange we have encouraged others to incorporate it. The speed with which information is shared and how quickly submittals and RFIs are transferred is one of the biggest advantages of Submittal Exchange."

Grand Island, NE - Construction began in March 2009 on the Health-Science Education Center, located on Central Community College's (CCC) Grand Island campus. The new educational center, valued at $7.7 million, will provide Grand Island students with multiple health and science focused laboratories, classrooms, and lecture halls, as well as administrative and faculty offices. Projected completion date for the 44,194 sq. ft. building is July 1, and it is scheduled to open in the fall of 2010. The project is using the Submittal Exchange system for submitting, reviewing, and tracking shop drawings and construction submittals electronically.
With over 60 team members and 350+ submittals on the project, Submittal Exchange has provided an invaluable solution in managing the construction administration process. This is the sixth project on which Hausmann Construction, Inc., the general contractor on the project, has deployed Submittal Exchange. Based out of Lincoln, Nebraska, Hasumann's project resume includes schools, hospitals, libraries, restaurants, and court houses among others. "Since we began using Submittal Exchange we have encouraged others to incorporate it. The speed with which information is shared and how quickly submittals and RFIs are transferred is one of the biggest advantages of Submittal Exchange," stated Matt Schendt, Project Manager and Vice President of Hausmann Construction. Schendt, who has 11 years of experience in the industry, added, "You're not dealing with items sitting on desks for nearly as long, or shipping hard copies. The overall speed at which we can get answers or approval on products is also a significant benefit."
"Submittal Exchange is a great tool. The contractor can get me an item today and I can get it back to him/her in the same day. That's pretty amazing. Before implementing Submittal Exchange, two weeks to a month was more typical."
- Rod Randolph, Associate, Wilkins Hinrichs Stober Architects
Wilkins Hinrichs Stober Architects (WHSA), the architect on the project, is a full service architectural and planning firm specializing in multiple markets including educational, healthcare, and religious facilities. When asked about their favorite feature Jeff Hinrichs, Project Architect and Principal with WHSA stated, "Submittal Exchange instantly allows us to turn documents around. We do not have to put paperwork through the mail, it's all electronic and the project team has a digital copy at the end of the project, which has been very helpful. Submittal Exchange is a good and efficient way to do a project."
Rod Randolph, Associate with WHSA, and responsible for management of project drawings agreed, adding, "Submittal Exchange is a great tool. The contractor can get me an item today and I can get it back to him/her in the same day. That's pretty amazing. Before implementing Submittal Exchange, two weeks to a month was more typical."
When questioned if Submittal Exchange has helped to improve the speed and overall execution of the construction administration process Schendt stated, "The entire project team has all the information readily available to them at anytime. Coordination is much easier between subcontractors, the owner, or the architect because everyone has the information right at their fingertips, allowing the project team to move easily from one scope of work to the next." Randolph stated, "The biggest advantage of Submittal Exchange is the time savings and not having to repeat hand-written information on six separate sets of drawings. Organization has been a benefit as well. With Submittal Exchange you don't have to go through folders of papers to try and locate something. At a glance you can get whatever information you need."
"After using Submittal Exchange on a project we recognized it was a tool we wanted to use on every project we work on." - Jeff Hinrichs, Principal & Project Architect, Wilkins Hinrichs Stober Architects
When asked if they would recommend Submittal Exchange to fellow construction professionals, Hinrichs, who has 25 years experience in the construction industry stated, "Definitely. After using Submittal Exchange on a project we recognized it was a tool we wanted to use on every project we work on." Randolph added, "Absolutely. Submittal Exchange provides time savings, limited paperwork, and better tracking on the project."
