Q: Who pays for Submittal Exchange?™
Ultimately, the facility owner pays for the submittal process as part of the total cost of construction. The Submittal Exchange™ fee can be paid directly by the owner. Or, the contractor or architect can purchase it and charge it back to the owner as a reimbursable or include it in the contract amount.
Q: How do I obtain electronic copies of submittals?
Most submittals are available electronically from the manufacturer or subcontractor. In addition, Submittal Exchange™ partners with local reprographic companies to provide scanning services at no extra cost. Contact us to find out who we're working with in your area.
Q: Can Submittal Exchange™ be used for RFIs?
Yes, Submittal Exchange™ can be used for RFIs. It can also be used for many other types of communications as well, including supplemental instructions (SIs and ASIs), informational bulletins (IBs), proposal requests (PRs and RFPs), change orders (COs), test reports, meeting notes, field reports, photos, and much more.
Q: How does Submittal Exchange™ work with LEED®?
Q: What is the 'Save 1,000 Trees' campaign?
Save 1,000 Trees is a call to increase awareness in the design and construction industry about the environmental impact of the submittal process. For example, a typical $15M project can save 6.25 trees and 4,700 lbs of CO2 (equivalent to recycling 6,000 aluminum cans) by use of Submittal Exchange™.
For every new sustainable project started on Submittal Exchange™, we will make a donation to the Arbor Day Foundation's Give-A-Tree program, effectively doubling the total number of trees saved by the project's use of electronic submittals. Our goal is to save 1,000+ trees in the next several months.
